“My painting is about myth and magic and the liminal space between earth, sea and sky. So my inspiration comes from the natural world: the sea, the moon and the winds; the earth with all its beauty and complexities; and, from the spirits of my Celtic and Viking ancestors. The moon is important to me as she is one of the feminine, shadowy and mystical, influencing the tides, us and the world. I paint women because they are powerful and have the wisdom of the Grandmothers. The solitary woman seems stronger to me in being themselves and answering to no-one.”
