For over 30 years Janet has created functional and decorative pieces to enhance people’s homes and lives. Using earthenware clay and a maiolica glaze, she paints floral motifs on top to the glaze. Since moving to Parrsboro in 2017, and setting up her studio at Art Lab Studios and Gallery, she has started using local clay which she digs from the shores of the Bay of Fundy; her work is currently adapting to the new medium and the new environment.
Janet has a Diplome d’etudes collegiales en Arts Appliques Ceramiques, from John Abbott College, Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Quebec and a BFA in Ceramics from NSCAD University, Halifax. Her work has won awards including Best Body of Work at Show of Hands, Nova Scotia Designer Craft Council summer festival 1998, and the Popular Choice Award presented by the Ottawa Guild of Potters, Fireworks 2003.
